The collection ”Neptune’s Daughter” is a homage to Esther Williams. A competitive swimmer and a movie star, famous for her musical films featuring elaborate performances in swimming and diving. In her youth, Williams engaged in swimming competitions, hoping to go to the Olympics. This was in 1940 and the Olympics were canceled due to World War Two. Instead, she brought her Olympic veins into the movies, mastering it all. Swimming, singing and even directing scenes herself at one point when the director fell asleep.
Driven by a desire to design garments for women that will leave them always looking stunning, even below the water surface, Bea Szenfeld has created a unique and impressive swimwear collection for spring/summer 2009. “Neptune’s Daughter” reveals an incredible wealth of styles and designs with a wonderful sensation of nostalgia.
